HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, established in 1907, 
3
is a worldwide socio-spiritual organization dedicated to the 
4
spirituality of the individual while promoting harmony between 
5
individuals, within families, and within diverse communities; 
6
and

 
7
    WHEREAS, BAPS North America, established in 1970, serves 
8
local communities, families, and individuals by promoting 
9
various spiritual, cultural, and humanitarian activities 
10
through a network of 126 centers across the United States; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir & Cultural Complex 
12
in Bartlett, established in 2001, serves as a  venue for 
13
promoting universal morals, family values, and interfaith 
14
harmony thereby helping shape a community of positive role 
15
models and contributing citizens; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, BAPS Centenary is celebrated by thousands of 
17
families throughout Illinois; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, BAPS Centenary celebrations are inspired by His 
19
Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the Spiritual Head of 
20
BAPS; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
proclaim June 17, 2007 as the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha 
4
Centenary Day; and be it further

 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj as a 
7
symbol of our respect.
