HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The framers of the United States Constitution
3 established the qualifications for the office of President of
4 the United States and included the requirement that only
5 natural born citizens are eligible to serve as President of the
6 United States; and
 
7     WHEREAS, the constitutional qualifications for the office
8 of the President of the United States have been upheld for
9 almost 220 years; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 urge the United States Congress to continue to uphold the
13 constitutional requirement that only natural born citizens be
14 qualified to run for the office of President of the United
15 States; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the Majority Leader of the United States Senate,
18 the Minority Leader of the United States Senate, the Speaker of
19 the United States House of Representatives, the Minority Leader
20 of the United States House of Representatives, and to each
21 member of the Illinois congressional delegation.
