| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of
|
4 |
| Kimberly Boelkes of Knoxville, Illinois, who passed away on |
5 |
| April 16, 2007; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Kimberly Boelkes was born on February 24, 1956, in |
7 |
| Aledo; her parents were Ralph L. and Lois L. Toland Winkler; |
8 |
| she married Gary W. Boelkes on November 13, 1982; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Kimberly Boelkes graduated from Alexis High |
10 |
| School in 1974; she received a BS in home economics from |
11 |
| Western Illinois University in December 1978 and her MS in |
12 |
| education administration in June 1988; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Kimberly Boelkes began teaching with the Canton |
14 |
| Union School District 66 in January 1979; she taught Home |
15 |
| Economics from January 1979 to May 1990, including High School |
16 |
| Home Economics and Cooperative Education; she was also a |
17 |
| Cheerleading Sponsor; she was Vocational Director from June |
18 |
| 1989 to June 1993, High School Assistant Principal from June |
19 |
| 1990 to June 1993, Lincoln Elementary Principal from August |
20 |
| 1993 to June 1994, and Eastview Elementary Principal from |
21 |
| August 1994 until her death; she was the Canton District Public |
22 |
| Relations Coordinator for 10 years; and
|

| WHEREAS, Kimberly Boelkes was a member of the Alexis United |

| Presbyterian Church; she was a member of the Illinois |
3 |
| Principals Association since 1993, the Western Illinois |
4 |
| University Program Advisory Council since 1990, Phi Delta Kappa |
5 |
| since 1990, and Phi Kappa Phi since 1975; She was Canton |
6 |
| Teacher of the Year in 1982; she was awarded the WIU Krong |
7 |
| Award for Outstanding Master's Student in 1989, Outstanding |
8 |
| Principal IPA Western Region for 1996-97, National Blue Ribbon |
9 |
| School in 2003, Speaker Blue Ribbon Schools Conference in 2003, |
10 |
| Canton Woman of the Year in 2004, Spotlight School Illinois |
11 |
| Honor Role in 2005; she contributed to several educational |
12 |
| books and papers, including an article in Best practices of |
13 |
| Award-Winning Elementary School Principals; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Kimberly Boelkes was preceded in death by her |
15 |
| mother, Lois L. Toland Winkler; she was survived by her |
16 |
| husband, Gary W. Boelkes; her children, Garrett and Morgan; her |
17 |
| father, Ralph L. Winkler; her siblings, Todd Winkler, Tricia |
18 |
| Johnson, Stacey Rychtyk, and Kelly (Dr. Jim) Semrau; and 13 |
19 |
| nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |

| that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing |

| of Kimberly Boelkes; and be it further
