2 | WHEREAS, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, situated | ||||||
3 | mid-way between Mattoon and Charleston, opened its doors on May | ||||||
4 | 10, 1977 to serve Coles County and the surrounding six | ||||||
5 | counties, Cumberland, Clark, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, and | ||||||
6 | Shelby; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, The formation of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health | ||||||
8 | Center was the result of two hospitals merging at a critical | ||||||
9 | time: Mattoon Memorial Hospital was old and antiquated, while | ||||||
10 | Charleston Community Hospital was newer, but was struggling | ||||||
11 | financially; together they found common ground and began merger | ||||||
12 | discussions in 1968; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center continues to | ||||||
14 | serve the region by creating easier access to care with clinics | ||||||
15 | in Arcola, Arthur, Sullivan, Neoga, Toledo, Casey, Charleston, | ||||||
16 | and Mattoon; Lincolnland Home Care and Lincolnland Hospice of | ||||||
17 | Sarah Bush Lincoln serve 13 and 15 counties respectively, along | ||||||
18 | with In Home Medical, its durable medical equipment company; | ||||||
19 | and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center employs 1,540 | ||||||
21 | people from throughout the region, including 71 physicians and | ||||||
22 | midlevel providers; Sarah Bush Lincoln's main campus sits on |

| |||||||
1 | about 114 acres; the Health Center and Medical Office Pavilion | ||||||
2 | I and II cover 410,130 gross square feet; in addition, Sarah | ||||||
3 | Bush Lincoln Health Center owns or leases approximately another | ||||||
4 | 94,000 square feet for its clinics, Lincolnland Home Care, | ||||||
5 | Lincolnland Hospice, In Home Medical, and other support or | ||||||
6 | service functions in the seven counties; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center has been honored | ||||||
8 | with several distinguished awards, including:
Solucient's Top | ||||||
9 | 100 Hospitals in the Nation for excellence in quality and | ||||||
10 | financial
performance, the 2005 Lincoln Silver Award-Progress | ||||||
11 | Towards Excellence, the 2005 Governor's Pollution Prevention | ||||||
12 | Award, the H2E Partner for Change Award, the 2006 Governor's | ||||||
13 | PATH Award, the 2006 Most Wired Small and Rural Hospital, and | ||||||
14 | the 2006 Coming Up Taller Award Semifinalist; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The volunteer force of 300 contributes more than | ||||||
16 | 25,000 hours a year to the organization; through its mission | ||||||
17 | statement, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center provides | ||||||
18 | exceptional care for all and creates healthy communities; | ||||||
19 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
21 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
22 | congratulate the physicians and staff of Sarah Bush Lincoln | ||||||
23 | Health Center on this anniversary event; and be it further
