HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Joliet 
3
was organized on May 24, 1857 at the very location where it 
4
remains to this day; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, At one time the church was home to one of the 
6
largest Protestant congregations in Joliet; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The church broadcasts its worship services over 
8
station WJOL and is the longest continuous Sunday morning 
9
religious radio broadcast in the nation; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran School has been in 
11
existence for over 138 years; Principal Claudia Pautz and her 
12
teachers and staff, as well as all the teachers and staff who 
13
have served the school over the years, have contributed greatly 
14
to the education of countless children in the Joliet area; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Senior Pastor Reverend Lee M. Jany, who will 
16
retire in May of 2007, and Associate Pastor Reverend Karl Hess 
17
serve the spiritual needs of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran 
18
Church congregation; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and School 
20
will celebrate its 150th anniversary with special worship

services and a banquet on May 27, 2007; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
congratulate the staff and congregation of St. Peter 
5
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Joliet on the 150th anniversary 
6
of the church; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Joliet as 
9
a symbol of our respect.
