| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the citizens of the |
| 4 |
| United City of Yorkville on the 50th anniversary of the merger |
| 5 |
| of the villages of Yorkville and Bristol; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, On April 16, 1957, the villages of Yorkville and |
| 7 |
| Bristol completed their merger, becoming the United City of |
| 8 |
| Yorkville; the first mayor was Ellsworth Windett, with Dr. |
| 9 |
| Robert Coleman, Leroy "Bud" Thanepohn and Bob Johnson also |
| 10 |
| serving as mayor during the 50 year history of Yorkville; the |
| 11 |
| current mayor is Art Prochaska and the mayor-elect is Valerie |
| 12 |
| Burd; City Council members who have served since 1957 include |
| 13 |
| Russ Hughes, Elden Madden, Delbert Trummel, Mike Anderson, Burt |
| 14 |
| Callmer, Richard Ellis, Cliff Jahp, Jack Jones, Cathy Jones, |
| 15 |
| Larry Kot, Ralph Pfister, Bill Radke, Jim Stafford, Mike |
| 16 |
| Thanepohn, Tom Sowinski, Bill Baird, Wanda Ohare, Bob Thomas, |
| 17 |
| and Vern Florence; and

| WHEREAS, The City of Yorkville has planned a series of |
| 19 |
| events celebrating its 50 years, with a Community Volunteer |
| 20 |
| Appreciation Day in May, a 50th Anniversary Music Under The |
| 21 |
| Stars concert in June, an ice cream social in July, and a time |
| 22 |
| capsule ceremony in September; therefore, be it
