1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to honor the brave men and women of | ||||||
4 | the Brookfield and LaGrange Police and Fire Departments on | ||||||
5 | being honored by the Brookfield-LaGrange Lions Club; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The LaGrange Park Fire Department members | ||||||
7 | receiving honor as Firefighters of the Year are | ||||||
8 | Paramedic/Firefighter Susan Breen, Paramedic/Firefighter Terry | ||||||
9 | Chiappetta, Paramedic/Firefighter Patrick Hurley, and | ||||||
10 | Paramedic/Firefighter Ryan Leavitt; the four firefighters | ||||||
11 | responded to what was perceived to be a routine call, but due | ||||||
12 | to their training they were able to identify a potentially | ||||||
13 | life-threatening situation and take the needed precautions on | ||||||
14 | behalf of the patient; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The LaGrange Park Police Department has selected | ||||||
16 | Sam Pulia as the Police Office of the Year for his dedication | ||||||
17 | to the department; Sam Pulia, on his own time, donated | ||||||
18 | furniture and wall hangings to update the police substation in | ||||||
19 | the Forest Glen Apartments; in addition he used his own carpet | ||||||
20 | shampooer and cleaned all the carpeting; even though he is only | ||||||
21 | a part-time officer he dedicates his full attention to his work | ||||||
22 | with the department; and

1 | WHEREAS, The Brookfield Department of Police has selected | ||||||
2 | Sergeant Fred Marek, Officer Richard Sebek, and Officer Paul | ||||||
3 | Lanzi as the recipients of this year's award; Sergeant Marek | ||||||
4 | and Officer Sebek are being honored for responding to a | ||||||
5 | shooting incident 21 years ago; Fred Marek was promoted to | ||||||
6 | Sergeant in October of 1998 and Officer Sebek has been | ||||||
7 | nationally recognized for his expertise in the Aikido | ||||||
8 | discipline of martial arts; Officer Lanzi is being honored for | ||||||
9 | his heroic efforts during an undercover narcotics operation, | ||||||
10 | with Officer Lanzi being seriously injured during the | ||||||
11 | operation; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The Brookfield Fire Department has selected | ||||||
13 | Lieutenant Jon Hultman for Firefighter of the Year for his hard | ||||||
14 | work in securing federal funding for the department; he has | ||||||
15 | secured money for air packs, a fire prevention smoke detector | ||||||
16 | program, the purchase of an air compressor and thermal imaging | ||||||
17 | camera, and other necessary items; he also was the lead | ||||||
18 | instructor in teaching the firefighters how to use the camera; | ||||||
19 | and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, The Brookfield-LaGrange Lions Club will honor | ||||||
21 | these men and women at an awards ceremony on May 23, 2007; | ||||||
22 | therefore, be it

23 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
2 | congratulate the men and women of the Brookfield and LaGrange | ||||||
3 | Police and Fire Departments for receiving this recognition by | ||||||
4 | the Brookfield-LaGrange Lions Club and for going beyond the | ||||||
5 | call of duty to help others; and be it further
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to Paramedic/Firefighter Susan Breen, | ||||||
8 | Paramedic/Firefighter Terry Chiappetta, Paramedic/Firefighter | ||||||
9 | Patrick Hurley, and Paramedic/Firefighter Ryan Leavitt, Sam | ||||||
10 | Pulia, Sergeant Fred Marek, Officer Richard Sebek, Officer Paul | ||||||
11 | Lanzi, and Lieutenant Jon Hultman as symbols of our respect and | ||||||
12 | esteem.
