| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William |
| 4 |
| "Skip" Dempsey of Decatur, who passed away on April 13, 2007; |
| 5 |
| and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, William Dempsey was born August 27, 1945, in Bel |
| 7 |
| Air, Maryland, the son of William H. and Audrey N. (Proffitt) |
| 8 |
| Dempsey; he later married Carla Ann Patterson on April 22, |
| 9 |
| 1966, in Toledo; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, William Dempsey was an instructor at Purdue |
| 11 |
| University from 1974 to 1984; he also served as Training |
| 12 |
| Coordinator for Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #65, from 1975 |
| 13 |
| to 1987 and then continued as a Business Agent from 1988 until |
| 14 |
| his retirement in 2002; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, William Dempsey accepted a position with the |
| 16 |
| Illinois Department of Revenue, serving in the area of labor |
| 17 |
| relations for 2 1/2 years; he was Past President of the Decatur |
| 18 |
| Building and Construction Trades Educational Planning |
| 19 |
| Committee for Decatur Public Schools District 61, a member of |
| 20 |
| the Decatur Public Building Commission, a Past President of the |
| 21 |
| Decatur Building and Construction Trades Council, a Past |
| 22 |
| President of Decatur Trades and Labor, a Board Member of the |
|
|

| United Way of Decatur and Macon County, and a Co-Chairman of |
| 2 |
| the Decatur Area Labor Management Committee and Steering |
| 3 |
| Committee of Decatur Advantage; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, William Dempsey enjoyed wood carving, Ducks |
| 5 |
| Unlimited, assisting with his grandchildren's interests, local |
| 6 |
| racing, and NASCAR; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, William "Skip" Dempsey was preceded in death by |
| 8 |
| his Dad, Wilbur Redman, who raised him; his brother, Donald |
| 9 |
| Wayne Redman; and his step-father, Donald Geddes; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, William "Skip" Dempsey is survived by his wife, |
| 11 |
| Carla; his mother, Audrey Geddes; his father, William H. |
| 12 |
| Dempsey; his daughter, Melissa (husband, Craig) Duff; his sons |
| 13 |
| Shawn Dempsey and Patrick (companion, Theresa) Dempsey; his |
| 14 |
| sisters Mary Jo (husband, Mike) Brace and Linda Orr; his |
| 15 |
| grandchildren, Justin, Blane, Riley, Drake, Jaret, Halee, |
| 16 |
| Kendra, and Winston; his nieces, Jennifer, Tracy, Molly, Katie, |
| 17 |
| Claire, Jenny, and Jylna; and his Aunts Ruby, Irene, and |
| 18 |
| Pauline; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 21 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
| 22 |
| William "Skip" Dempsey; and be it further
