| WHEREAS, Brian Zimmerman, an esteemed resident of Batavia |

| and a student at Marmion Academy in Aurora, has achieved |
4 |
| national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by |
5 |
| receiving a 2007 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential |
7 |
| Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
8 |
| Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across |
9 |
| America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to |
10 |
| serving their communities; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Brian Zimmerman earned this award by giving |
12 |
| generously of his time and energy to organize a school supply |
13 |
| drive that assembled and distributed 21,000 back-to-school |
14 |
| packages for disadvantaged children at 22 schools and |
15 |
| organizations in his area; for his "Crayons for Kids" drive, |
16 |
| Brian recruited volunteers, solicited sponsors, collected |
17 |
| school supplies, sorted and packed the items and delivered the |
18 |
| packages; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength |
20 |
| of our communities, and the overall vitality of American |
21 |
| society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young |
22 |
| people like Brian Zimmerman who use their considerable talents |
