| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ryan |
4 |
| Harris of Carbondale, who recently passed away; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Ryan Harris was born in Chicago on April 26, 1976 |
6 |
| to Raymond and Mimi Harris; he was a very spiritual person who |
7 |
| accepted Christ at a very early age; his faith in Christ was |
8 |
| shared by all who knew him through his caring actions and his |
9 |
| pleasant demeanor; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Ryan Harris attended Lincoln Elementary School, |
11 |
| Roosevelt Junior High School, and Proviso West High School |
12 |
| where he played football, was on the chess team, was a member |
13 |
| of the jazz and symphonic bands, and a member of the Gamer's |
14 |
| Guild; he loved to play chess, read novels, and play fantasy |
15 |
| role-playing games; he graduated from Proviso West High School |
16 |
| in June of 1994; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Upholding the tradition started by his late |
18 |
| grandfathers, Thomas Harris, Sr., and Walter (Wally) Edwards, |
19 |
| he made the decision to defend our country by enlisting in the |
20 |
| United States Marine Corps; he received a medal for Outstanding |
21 |
| Conduct, a National Defense Service Medal, and was named a |
22 |
| Sharpshooter within his Battalion; he received a rank of Lance |

| Corporal while serving in the Corps; he also became a third |

| degree Black Belt in Okinawa Karate-Do Shorin Ryu, |
3 |
| cross-trained in melee weapons; and

| WHEREAS, Ryan Harris received a Bachelor's of Science |
5 |
| degree in Electronic Systems Technology Management from |
6 |
| Southern Illinois University in Carbondale while finishing his |
7 |
| reserve duty; while in Carbondale, he was known by all and was |
8 |
| easily identified by his signature trench coats; he was |
9 |
| well-known and loved by all; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Ryan Harris leaves to cherish many beautiful |
11 |
| memories: his parents, Raymond and Mimi Harris; his brothers, |
12 |
| Raymond Harris, Jr., and Rannon Harris; his grandparents, |
13 |
| Consuela "Connie" Edwards and Cora Harris; his niece, Rayven |
14 |
| Harris; his aunts and uncles, Thomas (Marsha) Harris, Ella |
15 |
| (Johnnie) Dotton, Eddie Harris, Daniel Harris, Greg Harris, |
16 |
| Erma (Tony) Henderson, Linda (Chris) Glover, Brenda Harris, |
17 |
| Carl Gay, Kevin Gay, and Michelle (Alonzo) Coleman; his |
18 |
| godfather, Robert Grant; his godbrother and friend, Robert |
19 |
| Grant, Jr.; his special friends, Fredanna M'Cormack, James |
20 |
| Collier, Brian Bonner, and Kenan Hillard; and a host of other |
21 |
| relatives and friends who loved him dearly; therefore, be it
