| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate John Lotus Novak on 29 |
| 4 |
| years of service as DuPage County Treasurer; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak has been a life-long resident of |
| 6 |
| DuPage County, having resided in Lombard his entire life; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak received his Bachelor of Science |
| 8 |
| degree from North Central College in Naperville and continued |
| 9 |
| his education at the Illinois School of Banking at Southern |
| 10 |
| Illinois University; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak was the Senior Vice President of |
| 12 |
| the State Bank of Lombard before being appointed, by a blue |
| 13 |
| ribbon non-partisan committee, to the Office of DuPage County |
| 14 |
| Treasurer in May of 1977; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak was elected as the Treasurer of |
| 16 |
| DuPage County in November of 1978 and has been re-elected to |
| 17 |
| six terms thereafter; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak has lent his expertise to |
| 19 |
| numerous professional organizations, serving as the past |
| 20 |
| President of the Illinois County Treasurer's Association; past |
|

| Chairman and current member of the Treasurer's Affiliate Group |

| of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Elected |

| Laws Commission; former sub-chair of the Illinois Department of |
| 5 |
| Revenue Recodification Committee; member of the Illinois |
| 6 |
| County Problems Commission; Chair of the Legislative Committee |
| 7 |
| for the Illinois County Treasurer's Association; President and |
| 8 |
| Trustee of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; and member |
| 9 |
| of the National Association of Finance
Officers; and

| 10 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak was named "Outstanding County |
| 11 |
| Official of the Year" by the Illinois County Officials |
| 12 |
| Association in 1995 and "Treasurer of the Year " by the |
| 13 |
| Illinois County Treasurer's Association in 1996; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak has also served his community as |
| 15 |
| Vice President and Investment Officer for the Lombard Police |
| 16 |
| Pension Board; member of the Lombard Library Board; and member |
| 17 |
| of the Village of Lombard Finance Committee; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak was a college All-American |
| 19 |
| wrestler whose athletic prowess has led him to compete in |
| 20 |
| fifteen marathons, including six prestigious Boston Marathons; |
| 21 |
| and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, John Lotus Novak is a devoted husband to Marcy, |
|

| the proud father of three grown children, Kristynn, John and |
| 2 |
| Ted, and the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Alex, |
| 3 |
| Drew, Maddie, Lindsay and Tina; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 5 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 6 |
| commend and thank John Lotus Novak for his 29 years of public |
| 7 |
| service as DuPage County Treasurer and for his contributions to |
| 8 |
| countless civic and community organizations, and we wish John |
| 9 |
| Lotus Novak and his family many years of good health and |
| 10 |
| happiness in the future; and be it further
|
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 12 |
| presented to John Lotus Novak as a symbol of our respect.
