HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On January 30, 2007, the 2007 NuStep Pinnacle
3 Award for excellence in senior wellness/fitness programming
4 will be presented to Mather's-More Than a Cafe; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mather's-More Than a Cafe is owned and operated by
6 Mather LifeWays; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Mather LifeWays, based in Evanston, was founded in
8 1941 by humanitarian Alonzo Mather; Mather LifeWays is a
9 not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing ways to age
10 well; Mather LifeWays is dedicated to making neighborhoods
11 better places for older adults to live, work, learn,
12 contribute, and play; Mather LifeWays identifies, implements,
13 and shares the best practices for wellness, workforce issues,
14 memory care support, and empowering caregivers; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mather's-More Than a Cafe is a destination where
16 older adults can enjoy food, lifelong learning programs, and
17 classes focused on well-being; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The NuStep Pinnacle Award honors a fitness or
19 wellness center that demonstrates creativity, innovation, and
20 commitment to transform the lives of people and promote optimal
21 health; and

1     WHEREAS, Mather's-More Than a Cafe is located on 83rd
2 Street on the South Side of Chicago; it provides wellness
3 education in six dimensions: physical, social, emotional,
4 vocational, spiritual, and intellectual; people can enjoy a
5 healthy, freshly-prepared meal, a museum outing, computer
6 classes, jazzercise, line dancing, yoga, or tai chi classes in
7 a comfortable sitting; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 congratulate Mather LifeWays and Mather's-More Than a Cafe on
11 receiving the 2007 NuStep Pinnacle Award; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Beedie Jones, manager of Mather's-More Than a
14 Cafe, Randi Klebanoff, manager of wellness initiatives for
15 Mather LifeWays, and Carla Windhorst, vice president of
16 community initiatives for Mather LifeWays as a symbol of our
17 respect.
