HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to recognize Sam Balark, Director 
4
of External Affairs for AT&T Communications Inc., as he begins 
5
his duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the 
6
Southland Chamber of Commerce; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, In his position with AT&T, Sam Balark serves 70 
8
communities in southern Cook County as well as the south and 
9
west sides of the City of Chicago; he provides leadership, 
10
expertise, and investment in the communities he serves; and he 
11
oversees policy decisions and resolves customer issues;  and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Sam Balark began his career with AT&T as a 
13
Business Sales Consultant in Lake County; Mr. Balark was one of 
14
the top 10 sales representatives because of his dedication and 
15
involvement in the community; he also worked for Automated Data 
16
Processing as an Account Executive in the imaging department of 
17
the Auto Services Division; he also has an extensive background 
18
in management and sales and service coordination in the steel 
19
industry; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, In addition to his membership on the Southland 
21
Board, Mr. Balark serves on the Matteson Area Chamber of 
22
Commerce Board, the Maywood Chamber of Commerce Board of

Directors, the Bellwood Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, 
2
the Community Memorial Foundation Board of Directors for the 
3
Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action, the Chatham 
4
Business Association Board, and he is Past President of the 
5
Countryside Rotary Club; he also serves on the advisory Board 
6
of Metropolitan Family Services and South Star Services and is 
7
a member of 100 Blackmen of Chicago; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Sam Balark attended the University of 
9
Illinois-Chicago and South Suburban College; he lives in Willow 
10
Springs and has a daughter, Kristin; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Sam Balark will be honored at the Southland 
12
Chamber of Commerce dinner on January 25, 2007, where he will 
13
be named the incoming Chairman of the Board; therefore, be it

 
14
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
16
congratulate Sam Balark on being named the Chairman of the 
17
Board of the Southland Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

 
18
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Sam Balark as a symbol of our respect.
