Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 and the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986. Provides that in each Act, a circuit court clerk shall inform a person who petitions for an emergency order of protection concerning notification of the service of the emergency order of protection. Provides that the petitioner is notified that service of the emergency order was completed if the petitioner has registered a telephone number with the State's victim notification system. Provides that the law enforcement agency responsible for serving an emergency order of protection shall record the service of the order into a law enforcement database, or similar electronic record keeping system, at the time service occurs. Provides that these provisions apply only to those circuit court clerks able to access the State's victim notification system.

| AN ACT concerning civil law.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is |
5 |
| amended by adding Section 112A-17.5 as follows: |
6 |
| (725 ILCS 5/112A-17.5 new)
|

| Sec. 112A-17.5. Notice to petitioner concerning service of |
8 |
| emergency order. A circuit court clerk shall inform a person |
9 |
| who petitions for an emergency order of protection concerning |
10 |
| notification of the service of an emergency order. The |
11 |
| petitioner shall be notified when the respondent was served |
12 |
| with the emergency order if the petitioner has registered a |
13 |
| telephone number with the State's victim notification system |
14 |
| established under Section 8.5 of the Rights of Crime Victims |
15 |
| and Witnesses Act. The local law enforcement agency or any |
16 |
| other person serving an emergency order of protection shall |
17 |
| record the service of the order into a law enforcement |
18 |
| database, or similar electronic record keeping system, at the |
19 |
| time that service occurs. This Section applies only to those |
20 |
| circuit court clerks able to access the State's victim |
21 |
| notification system. |
