Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that an elected official of a unit of local government, a school district, or a community college district does not have to file a statement of economic interests in the calendar year in which his or her term ends if the term ends before June 15 and the official is not a candidate for re-election.

| AN ACT concerning government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended |
5 |
| by changing Section 4A-106.1 as follows:
|

| (5 ILCS 420/4A-106.1)
|

| Sec. 4A-106.1. Exceptions. |

| (a) 1994 school district and community college district
|
9 |
| filings. Elected officials and appointed officials of school
|
10 |
| districts and community college districts required to file |
11 |
| statements of
economic interests in calendar year 1994 shall |
12 |
| file those statements by October
1,
1994 rather than May 1, |
13 |
| 1994.
|

| (b) A person otherwise required under item (g) of Section |
15 |
| 4A-101 to file a statement of economic interests who is not a |
16 |
| candidate for re-election to that office and whose term expires |
17 |
| before June 15 is not required to file a statement of economic |
18 |
| interests with respect to that office in the year in which his |
19 |
| or her term expires. |
