1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5110

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5110 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||||
5 | Gambling Expansion
Referendum Act.
| ||||||
6 | Section 5. Referendum. The State Board of Elections shall | ||||||
7 | cause a statewide advisory public question to be submitted to | ||||||
8 | the voters at the general election to be held on November 4, | ||||||
9 | 2008. The question shall appear in the following form:
| ||||||
10 | "Shall Governor Rod R. Blagojevich and the General | ||||||
11 | Assembly enact legislation to expand legalized gambling in | ||||||
12 | Illinois by authorizing more than 5,000 new gambling | ||||||
13 | positions in addition to the 10,800 gambling positions | ||||||
14 | already in use?" | ||||||
15 | The
votes on
the question shall be recorded as "Yes" or "No".

1 | Section 10. Certification. The State Board of Elections | ||||||
2 | shall immediately
certify
the question to be submitted to the | ||||||
3 | voters of the entire State under Section
5 to each election | ||||||
4 | authority in Illinois.

5 | Section 15. Conflicts. If any provision of this Act | ||||||
6 | conflicts with any other
law,
this Act controls.

7 | Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on January 1, | ||||||
8 | 2009.
| ||||||
9 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
10 | becoming law.".
