SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 60/54.7 new

    Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Allows a physician to delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system for the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or other personnel. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by
5 adding Section 54.7 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 60/54.7 new)
7     Sec. 54.7. Physician delegation of authority;
8 administration of intense pulsed light system. A physician may
9 delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system for
10 the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other
11 non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant,
12 advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or other personnel,
13 provided those persons operating the intense pulsed light
14 system have adequate and appropriate training in the use of the
15 device, as recommended by the manufacturer and as defined by
16 rule.
 
17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
