Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Allows a physician to delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system for the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or other personnel. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by |
5 |
| adding Section 54.7 as follows: |
6 |
| (225 ILCS 60/54.7 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 54.7. Physician delegation of authority; |
8 |
| administration of intense pulsed light system. A physician may |
9 |
| delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system for |
10 |
| the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other |
11 |
| non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, |
12 |
| advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or other personnel, |
13 |
| provided those persons operating the intense pulsed light |
14 |
| system have adequate and appropriate training in the use of the |
15 |
| device, as recommended by the manufacturer and as defined by |
16 |
| rule.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
18 |
| becoming law.
