1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2496

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2496 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
5 | 6-34000 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (55 ILCS 5/6-34000 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 6-34000. Local tax proceeds. If any county is entitled | ||||||
8 | to receive a share of the proceeds from any tax imposed by | ||||||
9 | another unit of local government, then that county may, by | ||||||
10 | ordinance or resolution, reduce the rate of that tax in the | ||||||
11 | county in an amount equal to the percentage of the proceeds to | ||||||
12 | which the county is entitled. The county shall file a certified | ||||||
13 | copy of the ordinance with the Department of Revenue, and the | ||||||
14 | Department shall begin administering and enforcing the tax at | ||||||
15 | the reduced rate on the first day of the first month to occur | ||||||
16 | not less than 60 days after the ordinance is filed with the |

1 | Department. If a county passes an ordinance under this Section, | ||||||
2 | none of the proceeds attributable to that tax shall be | ||||||
3 | disbursed to the county. This Section does not apply to any tax | ||||||
4 | that is the subject of an intergovernmental agreement between | ||||||
5 | the county and the unit of local government. ".
