2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1979 on page 1, by | ||||||
3 | replacing lines 4 and 5 with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 32-5 and by adding Section 10-5.1 as | ||||||
6 | follows:"; and | ||||||
7 | on page 5, by inserting immediately below line 17 the | ||||||
8 | following:

9 | "(720 ILCS 5/32-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 32-5)
| ||||||
10 | Sec. 32-5. False
personation of attorney, judicial, or | ||||||
11 | governmental officials.
| ||||||
12 | (a) A person who falsely represents himself or herself to | ||||||
13 | be an attorney
authorized to practice law for purposes of | ||||||
14 | compensation or consideration
commits a Class 4 felony. This | ||||||
15 | subsection (a) does not apply to a person who
unintentionally | ||||||
16 | fails to pay attorney registration fees established by Supreme

2 | (b) A person who falsely represents himself or herself to | ||||||

officer or a public employee or an official or | ||||||
4 | employee of the federal government commits a Class B

5 | misdemeanor.

6 | (c) A person who falsely represents himself or herself to | ||||||
7 | be a public
officer or a public employee commits a Class 4 | ||||||
8 | felony if that false representation was for the purpose of | ||||||
9 | effectuating identity theft as defined in Section 16G-15 of | ||||||
10 | this Code.
