1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1635

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1635 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||||
5 | Illegally Logged Wood Act. | ||||||
6 | Section 5. Prohibition; penalties.
| ||||||
7 | (a) For purposes of this Section: | ||||||
8 | "Wood" means whole logs, lumber, or any wood products | ||||||
9 | derived, in whole or in part, from any part of a living or dead | ||||||
10 | tree. | ||||||
11 | "Illegally logged wood" means any wood harvested, | ||||||
12 | transported, bought, or sold in violation of laws of the nation | ||||||
13 | or state of the wood's origin. | ||||||
14 | (b) No person may import illegally logged wood into this | ||||||
15 | State for purposes of retail sale. | ||||||
16 | (c) Illegally logged wood may not be offered for sale, |

1 | sold, or dispensed in this State. | ||||||
2 | (d) A person who knowingly violates this Section is guilty | ||||||
3 | of a petty offense and shall be fined $1,000. Each day that a | ||||||
4 | violation occurs is a separate offense.".
