2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 232, AS AMENDED, by | ||||||
3 | replacing everything after the enacting clause with the | ||||||
4 | following:

5 | "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
6 | 2-3.142 as follows: | ||||||
7 | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.142 new) | ||||||
8 | Sec. 2-3.142. Task Force on Virtual Education. There is | ||||||
9 | created the Task Force on Virtual Education to consider and | ||||||
10 | recommend best practices in virtual education. The Task Force | ||||||
11 | shall consist of the following members: | ||||||
12 | (1) Two members of the higher education community, one | ||||||
13 | appointed by the Speaker of the House and one appointed by | ||||||
14 | the Minority Leader of the Senate. | ||||||
15 | (2) Two members of professional teachers' unions, one | ||||||
16 | appointed by the President of the Senate and one appointed |

1 | by the Minority Leader of the House. | ||||||
2 | (3) Two representatives of the State Board of | ||||||
3 | Education, appointed by the State Superintendent of | ||||||
4 | Education. | ||||||
5 | (4) One member appointed by the Illinois Association of | ||||||
6 | School Administrators. | ||||||
7 | (5) One member appointed by the Illinois Association of | ||||||
8 | School Boards.

9 | (6) One representative of the business community | ||||||
10 | appointed by a statewide organization representing | ||||||
11 | businesses. | ||||||
12 | (7) One member of the Chicago Board of Education (or | ||||||
13 | his or her designee) appointed by the President of the | ||||||
14 | Chicago Board of Education. | ||||||
15 | (8) One representative of a statewide virtual school | ||||||
16 | appointed by the State Superintendent of Education. | ||||||
17 | (9) The following members to be appointed by the | ||||||
18 | Governor: | ||||||
19 | (A) One member with training or expertise in | ||||||
20 | information and communications technologies. | ||||||
21 | (B) One member who is a current teacher or | ||||||
22 | administrator employed by a virtual school in a city | ||||||
23 | having a population exceeding 500,000. | ||||||
24 | (C) One member with training or expertise in early | ||||||
25 | childhood development. | ||||||
26 | (D) One member who is a parent of a child currently |

1 | enrolled in a virtual school in a city having a | ||||||
2 | population exceeding 500,000. | ||||||
3 | (E) One member who is a teacher or a parent of a | ||||||
4 | child currently enrolled in a statewide virtual school | ||||||
5 | program. | ||||||
6 | The Task Force shall be facilitated by the State Board of | ||||||
7 | Education. | ||||||
8 | The Task Force shall report its findings and | ||||||
9 | recommendations to the General Assembly, the Governor, and the | ||||||
10 | State Board of Education on or before 2 years after the | ||||||
11 | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General | ||||||
12 | Assembly. Upon filing its report, the Task Force is | ||||||
13 | dissolved. ".
