Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Regional Transportation Authority Act. Provides that, with respect to any increase in fares or charges for public transportation, a public hearing must be held in each county in which the fare increase takes effect. Provides that notice of the hearing must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the region and must be sent to the Governor and to each member of the General Assembly whose district overlaps in whole or in part with the area in which the increase takes effect. Provides that certain information must be included in the notice. Effective immediately.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes the requirement that the public hearing on fare increases must be separate from any other hearing or meeting scheduled by the Authority.

House Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
70 ILCS 3615/5.01
Adds reference to:
55 ILCS 5/3-9006from Ch. 34, par. 3-9006

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Counties Code. Provides that an Assistant State's Attorney may serve as an Assistant State's Attorney and, simultaneously, as a county board member for a county located outside of the jurisdiction of the State's Attorney Office that he or she serves. Provides that an Assistant State's Attorney serving as a county board member is subject to the internal mechanisms established by the State's Attorney to prohibit conflicts of interest. Effective immediately.
