Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Requires that certain contracts involving an expenditure in excess of $25,000 or a lower amount as required by school board policy (rather than $10,000) be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Changes an exception with respect to contracts for repair, maintenance, remodeling, renovation, or construction or a single project involving an expenditure not to exceed $50,000 (rather than $20,000). Effective immediately.

Adds reference to:

Amends the Public Community College Act. Requires that certain contracts involving an expenditure in excess of $25,000 or a lower amount as required by board policy (rather than $10,000) be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Changes an exception with respect to contracts for repair, maintenance, remodeling, renovation, or construction or a single project involving an expenditure not to exceed $50,000 (rather than $15,000).

Further amends the Public Community College Act. With respect to the City Colleges of Chicago, requires that certain contracts involving an expenditure in excess of $25,000 or a lower amount as required by board policy (rather than $10,000) be let by competitive bidding.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 3
Provides for an exception to the requirement that the Chicago School District let certain contracts by competitive bidding for contracts for services related to the preparation and delivery of food and all ancillary services.

House Amendment No. 1
Removes the exception to the requirement that the Chicago School District let certain contracts by competitive bidding for contracts for services related to the preparation and delivery of food and all ancillary services.
