Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. In provisions prohibiting installation of a traffic control signal preemption device on a motor vehicle, transportation of such a device in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, or operation of such a device by the driver or passenger of a motor vehicle, except as permitted by statute, increases the penalty from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony and the fine from $1,000 to $2,000. In provisions prohibiting a retailer or manufacturer from selling a traffic control signal preemption device for any intended use, other than those permitted by statute, increases the penalty from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony and the fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
