Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Property Tax Code. Deletes a provision that the county board may declare the office of county collector vacant if the county collector fails to account for and pay over taxes and provides that the office may be declared vacant by the circuit court of the judicial circuit in which the county seat is located and in which suit is brought on the collector's official bond. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 2
Provides that, if a suit on the county collector's official bond is brought in the circuit court and, based on preliminary evidence, the court determines that it is necessary that a temporary county collector be appointed, then the county board may, subject to the consent of the court, appoint an interim county collector to serve for the duration of the suit.
