Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the State and Regional Development Strategy Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the short title.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
20 ILCS 695/20-1
Adds reference to:
20 ILCS 605/605-312 new

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Authorizes the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to conduct a study regarding the creation of advanced sciences zones and other policy proposals to encourage the creation of technology jobs in the State. Provides that a copy of the study report must be made available to members of the General Assembly no later than January 1, 2008. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 1
Requires that, in conducting the research and in formulating its recommendations, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity must consult with the appropriate committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, and requires the Department to review and consider strategies, programs, and practices that have been implemented in other states and to seek and consider the views and recommendations of both the public and private sectors.
