House Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
65 ILCS 5/8-1-7

Provides that the corporate authorities of a municipality may borrow money for corporate purposes from a bank or other financial institution. Provides that the corporate authorities must evidence the indebtedness by executing a promissory note or similar debt instrument, but not a bond. Provides that the promissory note or other debt instrument shall be authorized by an ordinance passed by the corporate authorities. Provides that the obligation to make payments due under the promissory note is a direct general obligation of the municipality. Limits the amount of indebtedness that may be incurred under the Section. Removes a Section from the engrossed bill that allows the corporate authorities of a municipality to make contracts for a term not exceeding 10 years relating to certain borrowings.

Judicial Note (Admin Office of the Illinois Courts)
This bill would neither increase nor decrease the number of judges needed in the State.
