Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Internet Caller Identification Act. Provides that no person shall use any Internet caller identification equipment or Internet phone equipment in such a manner as to make a number or name, other than the caller's residential or business phone number or the caller's legal or business name, appear on a caller identification system of the recipient of the call. Provides that any person who knowingly uses or has knowingly used any Internet caller identification equipment or Internet phone equipment in violation of the Act commits an unlawful act or practice under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to make a violation of the Internet Caller Identification Act a violation of the Act.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the original bill with the following changes. Makes an exception to the use requirements for caller identification equipment or Internet phone equipment for the recipient of the call. Provides that the requirements concerning the use of caller identification equipment or Internet phone equipment do not apply to service providers who transmit caller identification information created or supplied by others.
