Synopsis As Introduced
Amends provisions of the Illinois Vehicle Code requiring a driver involved in an accident to forward a written accident report if the accident resulted in property damage in excess of $500. Changes the minimum property damage amount from $500 to $1,500. Provides for optional reporting of an accident resulting in property damage in excess of $500 but not more than $1,500. Makes corresponding changes in provisions regarding posting of security by certain drivers involved in accidents.

House Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
625 ILCS 5/7-301

Deletes everything after the enacting clause and re-inserts similar provisions, with the exception of provisions concerning the applicability of an Article of the Code concerning financial responsibility.

House Amendment No. 2
Deletes everything after the enacting clause and re-inserts similar provisions as those in House Amendment No. 1, except: deletes language regarding optional reporting of accidents; and adds language requiring reports to be filed if property damage exceeds $500 and any of the vehicles involved in the accident is subject to mandatory liability insurance requirements but is not covered by a liability insurance policy.
