Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health may develop a program to collaborate with long-term care facilities on quality assurance issues. Provides that the Department may seek all necessary waivers of federal requirements to permit the full implementation of the program, and provides that implementation of the program is subject to the availability of funding for that purpose. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 1
Deletes a reference to rules to be adopted by the Department of Public Health. Provides that neither the Governor nor any agency or agency head under the jurisdiction of the Governor has any rulemaking authority under the amendatory Act, but that the Governor may suggest rules by filing them with the General Assembly and requesting that the General Assembly authorize such rulemaking by law, enact the suggested rules into law, or take other appropriate action in the General Assembly's discretion.
