Pension Note (Government Forecasting & Accountability)
The fiscal impact for HB 5158 is yet to be determined as it is unknown how many participants will be eligible to receive benefits. |
Pension Note (Government Forecasting & Accountability)
The Commission’s actuary has performed a cost study of HB 5158 under the assumption that the percentage of retired police officers who would have a surviving spouse eligible to receive a survivor’s pension would increase from 80% to 85%. Based on the above assumption, the estimated costs involved with the proposed change for all Downstate police pension funds would be as follows: Increase in total actuarial liability = $61,453,000; Increase in total annual costs = 5,943,000; Increase in total annual costs as a percent of payroll = 0.77%. |
