Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that it is the goal of the State that by January 1, 2015, 10% of the energy used in the State shall be derived from coal gasification or other clean coal technologies. Provides that by March 1, 2015, the Illinois Commerce Commission shall: (i) review the amount of energy derived from goal gasification by utilities under its jurisdiction; (ii) prepare a report concerning the findings of the review that creates future goals; and (iii) adopt rules to implement policies that are consistent with the future goals. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 1
Deletes a provision requiring the Illinois Commerce Commission to adopt rules to implement policies that are consistent with provisions concerning clean coal technologies by March 1, 2015.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:

Adds reference to:
20 ILCS 3855/1-37 new

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Power Agency Act. Provides that it is the goal of the State that by January 1, 2015, 10% of the energy used in the State shall be derived from coal gasification or other clean coal technologies. Effective immediately.
