Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Election Day Voter Registration Commission Act. Creates a commission appointed by the legislative leaders to study and report to the General Assembly on the possible implementation of election day voter registration. Abolishes the commission and repeals the Act January 1, 2009. Effective immediately.

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Election Code. Creates a similar Election Day Voter Registration Commission with similar duties as the introduced bill, with the following changes: Decreases the membership to 4 legislators and 4 public members appointed by the legislative leaders; requires that the State Board of Elections provide the Commission with staff and technical assistance; specifies that reimbursement of member expenses shall be from funds appropriated to the State Board of Elections for that purpose; and requires the Commission to report to the State Board of Elections as well as the General Assembly. Abolishes the Commission and repeals the provisions on January 1, 2009. Effective immediately.
