Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that a prisoner serving a sentence for gunrunning, narcotics racketeering, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, controlled substance trafficking, calculated criminal drug conspiracy, criminal drug conspiracy, street gang criminal drug conspiracy, certain other specified violations of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act, participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, methamphetamine-related child endangerment, methamphetamine delivery, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, methamphetamine trafficking, methamphetamine conspiracy, cannabis trafficking, delivery of cannabis on school grounds, calculated criminal cannabis conspiracy, certain other specified violations of the Cannabis Control Act, a Class 2 or greater felony conviction for money laundering, or drug induced homicide shall receive no more than 7.5 days good conduct credit for each month of his or her sentence of imprisonment. Effective immediately.

Provides that the limitations on the award of good conduct credit to no more than 7.5 days good conduct credit for each month of the prisoner's sentence of imprisonment applies to only gunrunning, Class X felony money laundering, and Class X felony drug violations.

House Amendment No. 2
Changes the offenses for which the maximum of 7.5 days of good conduct credit per month applies. Provides that a person serving a sentence for gunrunning, narcotics racketeering, controlled substance trafficking, methamphetamine trafficking, drug-induced homicide, aggravated methamphetamine-related child endangerment, certain forms of money laundering, or a Class X felony conviction for delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, calculated criminal drug conspiracy, criminal drug conspiracy, street gang criminal drug conspiracy, participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, delivery of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, aggravated delivery of methamphetamine, aggravated possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, methamphetamine conspiracy when the substance containing the controlled substance or methamphetamine is 100 grams or more shall receive no more than 7.5 days good conduct credit for each month of his or her sentence of imprisonment.
