Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for the issuance of Iraq Campaign and Afghanistan Campaign license plates, respectively, to persons who have earned the Iraq Campaign Medal or the Afghanistan Campaign Medal from the U.S. Armed Forces. Provides that the applicant shall pay an additional fee of $15 for original issuance of the plates, to be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 1
Provides that the additional original issuance fee for both types of plates shall be $40 (rather than $15). Provides that $25 of that fee shall be deposited into the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund and $15 shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. Provides that, for each registration renewal period, an additional fee of $27 shall be charged, of which $25 shall be deposited into the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.

Adds reference to:
625 ILCS 5/3-666 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for issuance of Paratrooper license plates, at an additional initial charge of $15, with eligibility requirements to be determined by the Secretary of State. Provides that the $15 additional initial charge shall go to the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.
