| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened |
3 |
| to learn of the passing of Oscar Henry Wilkinson of Granite |
4 |
| City January 2, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Oscar Henry Wilkinson was born on February 18, |
6 |
| 1925 in Gabaret Island, Illinois; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkinson was the owner and operator of 5 Star |
8 |
| Engineering and Mechanical Contractors; he retired in 1990 |
9 |
| after 16 years as a steamfitter and mechanical contractor; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkinson proudly served his country during |
11 |
| World War II in the United States Army with 82nd 508 "Red |
12 |
| Devils" Airborne Division and was the recipient of the Purple |
13 |
| Heart; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkinson was an avid Nascar and stock car |
15 |
| enthusiast and enjoyed nature, whether watching the birds or |
16 |
| admiring the flowers; he will be remembered for the love of his |
17 |
| family his ability of cooking; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by his beloved |
19 |
| wife, Mary Joan (nee Blaylock) Wilkinson, whom he married |
20 |
| October 13, 1945, in Venice, Illinois, and passed away on |
21 |
| August 3,1993; his parents, Percy Joshua and Virginia Edna (nee |
22 |
| Tayon) Wilkinson; three sons, Vernon E. Wilkinson, Joseph R. |
23 |
| Wilkinson, and James David Wilkinson; and ten brothers and |
24 |
| sisters; and |
25 |
| WHEREAS, Oscar Wilkinson is survived by his children, |
26 |
| Harold T. "Tom" and Brenda Wilkinson, Richard L. "Dick" |

| Wilkinson, P.J. (Cheryl) Wilkinson, Mary R. Lackey, Laura K. |
28 |
| (Mark) Williams, Roger A. (JoEllen) Wilkinson, and Charles D. |

| (Cheryl) Wilkinson; his 25 grandchildren; his 23 |
