| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Robert |
4 |
| C. Knuepfer, who passed away on September 18, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Knuepfer was born on July 27, 1923 in |
6 |
| Chicago, Illinois; he was raised in River Forest and was a |
7 |
| graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the |
9 |
| United States Army in the Pacific Theater; after the war, he |
10 |
| earned an engineering degree from the University of Illinois; |
11 |
| and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, He joined his father's manufacturing business, |
13 |
| General Engineering Works, in Chicago, and later founded and |
14 |
| served as Chairman of DuPage Machine Products in Bloomingdale; |
15 |
| he served as the National President of the Precision Machined |
16 |
| Products Association and as an officer or director of many |
17 |
| organizations, including Elmhurst National Bank, the Jaycees, |
18 |
| Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, the Elmhurst YMCA, and the Boy |
19 |
| Scouts of America; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, He was a supporter of many philanthropic and |
21 |
| educational organizations; he was active in sports, including |
22 |
| golf and tennis; he was a 50-year member of the River Forest |
23 |
| Golf Club; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, After the death of his first wife, Suzanne, Robert |
25 |
| Knuepfer established the Suzanne W. Knuepfer Guest House, a |
26 |
| home offering short-term care for seniors; he later married |
27 |
| Joyce Moucka, and they became involved in Christ Church of Oak |
28 |
| Brook; and |
29 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Knuepfer is survived by his wife, Joyce; |
