| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rosa M. |
4 |
| Madison of Waukegan, who passed away on July 26, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Rosa Madison was born on July 8, 1908, in |
6 |
| Bentonia, Mississippi; her parents were Boston and Rosie Lee |
7 |
| Brown; she was married to William Madison on November 23, 1935; |
8 |
| and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at St. |
10 |
| Paul CME Church in Bentonia; after she and her husband moved to |
11 |
| Waukegan, Illinois, she joined Shiloh Baptist Church; she later |
12 |
| joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she served as the Church |
13 |
| Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent, Deaconess, and President |
14 |
| of the Missionary Board; she also was in charge of the Baptist |
15 |
| Training Union and served in Church Women United; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Rosa Madison is survived by her children, Winfrey, |
17 |
| Odessa "Ody", V. Joyce, and Vernon "Bird"; her grandchildren, |
18 |
| Angela "Gigi", Michael, and Vernon David; her |
19 |
| great-grandchildren, Andre "Duck", Asja-Janaay "Suzie Q", and |
20 |
| Nicole "BamSpam"; her great-great-grandchild, Amir; her |
21 |
| brother-in-law, Henry (Jessie) Madison; her sisters-in-law, |
22 |
| Rosilee "Old Lady" Owens and Alma "Babe" Sanders; and |
23 |
| WHEREAS, Rosa Madison was preceded in death by her parents; |
24 |
| her husband, William; her son, Clarence Dwayne; her seven |
25 |
| siblings; and her foster children, Fleming "Dave" Davis and |
26 |
| Inez Jackson; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |

| all who knew and loved her, the death of Rosa M. Madison; and |
