| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to extend |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of |
4 |
| Gwendoline "Gwenn" I. Smiley of Springfield, who passed away on |
5 |
| November 13, 2006; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Gwendoline Smiley was born on May 15, 1924, in |
7 |
| Plymouth, England; her parents were Albert and Lillian Kelly |
8 |
| Pearse; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, She married Virgil "Jack" Smiley in Plymouth, |
10 |
| England in 1943; she came to the United States in 1946 and |
11 |
| became a U.S. citizen in 1947; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Gwendoline Smiley served in the British Navy, |
13 |
| Army, and Air Force Institute during World War II; she worked |
14 |
| at Bressmers and Luers Shoes, as well as being a homemaker; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Gwendoline Smiley was a member of the First United |
16 |
| Methodist Church; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Gwendoline Smiley is survived by her husband, |
18 |
| Jack; her sons, Brian (wife, Joan) Smiley, and Russell (wife, |
19 |
| Michelle) Smiley; her daughters, Janet (husband, Robert) Karr, |
20 |
| Lynda (husband, Paul) Bridges, and Paula (husband, Hal) |
21 |
| Kitchen; her 10 grandchildren; and her 15 great-grandchildren; |
22 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
25 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Gwendoline Smiley; and |
26 |
| be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to the family of Gwendoline Smiley.
