| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Benjamin |
4 |
| Williams, who passed away on November 3, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Benjamin Williams was born on August 27, 1954 in |
6 |
| Webb, Mississippi; he was the seventh child born to Willie B. |
7 |
| and Mozella Williams; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the |
9 |
| St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church of Webb, Mississippi; he |
10 |
| later moved to Chicago, Illinois and joined the Helping Hand |
11 |
| Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late |
12 |
| Reverend Joe Kelley; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He attended West District High School in Sumner, |
14 |
| Mississippi, and later joined the United States Army; he |
15 |
| married Mary Black in 1982; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Benjamin Williams moved to Maywood, Illinois and |
17 |
| joined the Proviso Missionary Baptist Church, under the |
18 |
| leadership of Bishop Dr. Claude Porter; he served faithfully in |
19 |
| many auxiliaries, including the Trustee Board, the Audio Sound |
20 |
| Ministry, the PBC Security Team, and the Bus Ministry; he was a |
21 |
| member of P.T.M.A.N. (Proviso Township Ministerial Alliance |
22 |
| Network); and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, He leaves behind his wife, Mary; his children, |
24 |
| Sherwonder (Mark), Ben, Jr., Rick, Lawrence, Shamara, Sydney, |
25 |
| Symone "Poppy", Devon, Devin, and Calvin; his devoted friend, |
26 |
| Renita Evans; his brothers, Willie, Jr., Billy, and Bernard; |
27 |
| his sisters, Ollie, Mabel, and Bobbie; and a host of many |
28 |
| relatives and friends; therefore, be it
