| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death in Iraq of U.S. Navy Petty |
4 |
| Officer 1st Class Gary T. Rovinski of Roseville on Monday, June |
5 |
| 5, 2006; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Petty Officer Rovinski was a member of the U.S. |
7 |
| Navy Seabees; he served as an equipment operator assigned to |
8 |
| Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25 based at Fort McCoy, |
9 |
| Wisconsin; he had been in Iraq since March, where his job was |
10 |
| to escort semitrailers across the desert; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, This was his second time serving in the military; |
12 |
| he had previously served in the U.S. Army for eight years and |
13 |
| served during the first Gulf War as an eye specialist; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, He worked at the Henry Hill Correctional Center |
15 |
| and was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in |
16 |
| Monmouth; he had also served as associate dean of students and |
17 |
| director of residence life at Monmouth College from 1997 to |
18 |
| 1999; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gary T. Rovinski has been deeply |
20 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Jenifer Rovinski, and his |
21 |
| two daughters; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
23 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
24 |
| Petty Officer 1st Class Gary T. Rovinski, and we extend our |
25 |
| deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and |
26 |
| loved him; and be it further |
27 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Petty Officer |
28 |
| Rovinski and his willingness to serve his country, which led to |
29 |
| him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
