| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Roy Lee Nash on Friday, |
4 |
| July 28, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Lee Nash was born to the union of Andrew and |
6 |
| Cora Spencer Nash on March 28, 1928, in Dancy, Alabama; he |
7 |
| attended Garrison Elementary and Lovejoy High School; he |
8 |
| confessed a belief in Christ at an early age at St. John |
9 |
| Missionary Baptist Church; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, In 1947, Mr. Nash became one of the founding |
11 |
| members of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where he |
12 |
| served as a deacon and member of the Trustee Board; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He was united in holy matrimony to Lois Elender |
14 |
| Givhan on April 11, 1954; he served in the United States Army |
15 |
| at Ft. Leonard Wood as a clerk; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, He retired from American Waterworks after 40 years |
17 |
| of service; he also worked for World Book Encyclopedia as |
18 |
| District Manager; he was a manager of St. Paul #42 Masonic |
19 |
| Lodge and a board member of Southern Illinois Health Institute; |
20 |
| and |
21 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Nash had various nicknames, including Bull, |
22 |
| Buggy Wuggy, Bookman, and Dr. Nash; he was known and loved by |
23 |
| everyone; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Roy Lee Nash has been deeply felt |
25 |
| by many, especially his wife, Lois E. Nash; his children, |
26 |
| Micheline Harris, Dacia Nash-Travis, Gregory (Zena) Nash, and |
27 |
| Roger (Rhonda) Nash; his grandchildren, Delicia Harris, |
28 |
| Danielle Harris, Deanna Harris, Keiland Nash, Reishia Douglas, |
29 |
| Ajina' Lowry, Darrious Nash, and Ratisha Nash; his |
