SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the passing of Harvey Headd, Jr. of Centreville on June 9, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Harvey Headd, Jr., was born on August 2, 1951 in Louisville, Mississippi to Harvey Headd, Sr. and Lucy Headd; he obtained his primary education from the Louisville School System and continued his education by attending Carpentry, Electrical and Auto Mechanics trade school; he was one of the most sought after tradesman in the area; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Headd was employed by Ford Motor Company and Wayne Moody Construction Company both of Louisville, Mississippi; in his off time, he enjoyed hunting and socializing with his wide network of friends; he always had a funny story or joke to share with everyone; he obtained the nicknames of: ''June Bug'' and ''B.B. King'' for his often amusing spirit; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Headd later relocated to Berkeley, California where he resided for fifteen years; while there, he was the owner of Head & Grimes Engineering and Electrical Company; he also worked for Mike's Auto Body in San Leandro, California; while in California, he was under the pastorship of Reverend A.L. Cobbs, Sr., of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Harvey Headd, Jr. married Ms. Essie Powe and relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Harvey Headd, Jr. has been deeply felt by many, especially his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Essie Powe-Headd; his step-son, Walter Triplet; his stepdaughter, Annette Powe; his stepgrandson, Walter Triplet, Jr.; his extended family: Erma Morgan, Velma Liddell, Ethel Thomas, Kenneth Haynes, Floyd Triplet, Yvonne Robinson, Lois Wood, Almon Haynes, and Carl Haynes; his great-aunt, Leslie Sorrell ''Auntie''; his son, Marcus Headd, Sr.; his grandson, Marcus Headd, Jr.; his sisters, Carrie Robinson, Martha Headd, Julia Crawford, Mattie Shields, and Lucy Headd; his brother-in-law, Walter Robinson and Roger Shields; his nephews, Teno Headd, James Hall, Shane Shields, Julius Foster, and Ole Robinson; his nieces, Rutendo Crawford, Gale Logan, Shana Shields, and Niviece Robinson; and a host of numerous other relatives and friends; preceding him in death were his daughter, Latanya Headd; his sister, Mrs. Hattie Foster, and his parents, Mr. Harvey Headd, Sr., and Mrs. Lucy Headd; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harvey Headd, Jr. and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
