| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Vincent J. Jeep of Waukegan |
4 |
| on Sunday, April 16, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born August 28, 1911, in Malvern, Iowa; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jeep was active in various labor, civil |
7 |
| rights, and peace organizations; he worked in various |
8 |
| positions, including as a Bell Hop at the Biltmore Hotel in |
9 |
| Kansas City, Missouri, in the 1930s; as a manager at the |
10 |
| Bergoff restaurant in Chicago in the 1940s; as a union |
11 |
| organizer in Chicago for the United Electrical Workers and |
12 |
| Hotel and Restaurant Workers unions in the 1940s; as owner of |
13 |
| various restaurants, including food concession at the "Big |
14 |
| Gurnee" Discount in the 1950s; as a tax collector for the |
15 |
| Illinois Department of Revenue in the 1960s; and as sole |
16 |
| proprietor of "Vincent J. Jeep Bookkeeping Services" in the |
17 |
| 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Vincent J. Jeep has been deeply |
19 |
| felt by many, especially his sons, Mark Jeep, his wife Sue, and |
20 |
| children (Katy, Jennifer and Graham); Ken Jeep, his wife |
21 |
| Cecilia, and children (Amy and Adam); and Jeffery, his wife |
22 |
| Elizabeth, and children (Laura and Sarah); therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
25 |
| Vincent J. Jeep, and we extend our sincere condolences to his |
26 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
27 |
| further
|
28 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
29 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
30 |
| sympathy.
