SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Josephine Theresa "Jitter"
4 Sumpter of Alton on Saturday, May 6, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on May 15, 1923, in Greensburg,
6 Pennsylvania, to John and Jenny (Totora) Blasioli; she married
7 James W. Sumpter Jr. on September 20, 1942, and later
8 celebrated a nuptial Mass on September 20, 1957, at St. Mary's
9 Catholic Church in Alton; he preceded her in death on October
10 2, 1985; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the
12 Fraternal Order of Eagles of Alton 254 and the Women's
13 International Bowling Congress; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mrs. Sumpter will always be remembered as a loving
15 wife, mother, grandma, great-maw-maw, and friend to many; she
16 was an avid card player, enjoyed bowling, bingo, and country
17 music and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
 
18     WHEREAS, In addition to her dear husband of 43 years, she
19 was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carrie
20 Hendrickson; and her brother, Joseph Blasioli; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Josephine Theresa "Jitter" Sumpter
22 has been deeply felt by many, especially her sons and
23 daughter-in-law, James John Sumpter, John Joseph and Jackie
24 Sumpter, and Tommy D. Sumpter; her daughters and son-in-law,
25 Carol Ann and Clancy Stewart and Vicki Thoe; her grandchildren
26 and their spouses, Tiffany Breden, Jimmy and JoLynne Sumpter,
27 Keri and Kevin Thompson, Dawn Sumpter, Tammy and Greg Conreux,
28 Erin Sumpter and Steve Starnes, Brian Sumpter, Joey Sumpter,
29 Nicole Sumpter, Jessica Ansell, Michael Thoe, Katie Sumpter,
30 and Mariah Postel; her great-grandchildren, Jessie, Rebecca,

1 Taya, Cathy, Christopher, Sophia, Stevie, Tate, Mallory,
2 Kaden, Josephine, Chloe, and baby Sumpter due in October; her
3 sisters and brother-in-law, Anne and Wallace Lawson and Stella
4 Merli; her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Marcia
5 Blasioli; and her other extended family and many dear friends;
6 therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9 Josephine Theresa "Jitter" Sumpter, and we extend our sincere
10 condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11 her; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
14 sympathy.
