| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |

| learned with regret of the death of Agatha Simmonds of North |
4 |
| Chicago on Saturday, January 21, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Simmonds was born on July 9, 1903 in St. |
6 |
| Catherine, Jamaica; she migrated to the United States in 1981; |
7 |
| and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Simmonds was a member of Living Faith United |
9 |
| Methodist Church; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Simmonds was blessed with a long life that |
11 |
| was filled with love; at the time of her death, she was 102 |
12 |
| years old; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by three sons, three |
14 |
| daughters, and a great-grandson; and |
15 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Agatha Simmonds has been deeply |
16 |
| felt by many, especially her daughters, Victoria (Cecil) |
17 |
| Rodney, Florida Levy, and Cacheta Francis; her son, Donald |
18 |
| Francis; her grandchildren, Sandra (Joseph) Sproul, Patrick |
19 |
| Menzie, Lelcent (Stephane) Menzie, Derrick (Pamela) Francis, |
20 |
| Novia (Eric) Hewitt, Opal Francis, Novlette and Ryan Francis, |
21 |
| Caroline Francis, and Lakeisha and Lateisha Gooden; her |
22 |
| twenty-three great-grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren; |
23 |
| and a host of other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Agatha Simmonds, and we extend our sincerest condolences to her |
27 |
| family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
