SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Robert R. "Bob" Gearing of
4 Alton on Wednesday, April 12, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on May 2, 1916, in Alton to Roy E. and
6 Cecilia (Rothacher) Gearing; he married Genarose M. Hagen on
7 October 4, 1947, at the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church in
8 Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Gearing proudly served his country as a member
10 of the U.S. Army during World War II in Africa and France; he
11 received several decorations and citations and was discharged
12 in 1946 with the rank of sergeant; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He owned and operated Gearing Heating and Cooling
14 in Alton for many years; after retiring, he enjoyed his
15 part-time position transporting police vehicles for the Alton
16 Police Department; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles
18 Alton 254, American Legion Alton Post 126, Veterans of Foreign
19 Wars Alton Post 1308, and the Franklin Masonic Lodge 25; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He will always be remembered as a loving husband,
21 father, grandfather, and friend to many; he enjoyed all sports,
22 playing cards, and spending quality time with his
23 grandchildren; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Robert R. "Bob" Gearing has been
25 deeply felt by many, especially his beloved wife of 58 years,
26 Genarose; his daughters and son-in-law, Barbara K. Gearing,
27 Linda C. Haar, and Nancy G. and Steve Blair; his grandchildren,
28 Keith R. Haar, Kari E. Haar, Katie R. Haar, Rachel L. Blair,
29 Regan C. Blair, and Steven L. Blair, Jr.; his other extended

1 family; and his many friends; he was preceded in death by his
2 parents and his sister, Noel Fossieck; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5 Robert R. "Bob" Gearing, and we extend our sincere condolences
6 to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
7 it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
10 sympathy.
