SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Paul "Jerry" Ellis of
4 Aurora on Saturday, March 11, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was born on January 27, 1931 in Urbana
6 to Carlin and Betty (Minnick) Ellis; his family moved to Aurora
7 when he was five years old; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a 1949 graduate of West Aurora High
9 School; he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from
10 Marquette University in 1957; he and his wife, Suzanne (Stare)
11 shared fifty years of marriage; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the Korean Conflict,
13 where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska with the United
14 States Coast Guard; he retired from Chicago Metra in 1996 and
15 subsequently worked part-time at Precision Packaging; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a loyal West Aurora basketball fan;
17 he was inducted into the West Aurora High School Alumni Hall of
18 Fame in 2003 and was a member of the West Aurora Booster
19 Association; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was an active member of Holy Angels
21 Church; he enjoyed camping, vacations in Pensacola, Florida,
22 and traveling with friends of 40 years (the Rinky Dinks); he
23 was blessed with many good friends; and
 
24     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, David Paul
25 Ellis, and his parents; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The passing of Paul "Jerry" Ellis has been deeply
27 felt by many, especially his wife, Suzanne; his children, Joan
28 Ellis, John (Mary) Ellis, Paula (Brad) Bonifas, Joel Ellis, and

1 Mary (Tim) Kennedy; his daughter-in-law, Gayle Ellis; his
2 grandchildren, John, Matthew, and David Ellis, Thomas and
3 Claire Kennedy, and Ricky Davis; his brother, Rod (Julie)
4 Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Paul Ellis, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his
8 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
12 sympathy for their loss.
