| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Ila M. Bauer, mayor of |
4 |
| Round Lake Park, on Sunday, March 5, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer was born on March 9, 1933, in a small |
6 |
| town in Wisconsin; she attended school in that small town and |
7 |
| then entered the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, |
8 |
| graduating with a degree in business education; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Following graduation, Mrs. Bauer moved to Round |
10 |
| Lake in 1963 and began her teaching career at Round Lake High |
11 |
| School; she continued her education, receiving a master of arts |
12 |
| degree in education supervision and administration from |
13 |
| Roosevelt University and a Ph.D. in education management from |
14 |
| LaSalle University; she retired from teaching in June of 1994; |
15 |
| and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer first served as a village trustee from |
17 |
| 1991 to 1993; she was elected mayor of Round Lake Park in 1997 |
18 |
| and was re-elected twice, serving as mayor until her death; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Route 120 Bypass |
20 |
| Committee, the Mano A Mano Board of Directors, the B.E.S.T. |
21 |
| organization, the Lake County Community Development |
22 |
| Commission, the Lake County Municipal League Board of |
23 |
| Directors, the Metropolitan Mayors' Caucus Legislative Action |
24 |
| Team, and the Lake County Affordable Housing Task Force; she |
25 |
| was a member of the planning group for Families Matter and |
26 |
| served on support committees for the Round Lake School |
27 |
| District; she served on many additional community task forces |
28 |
| and boards of directors in her area; and |
29 |
| WHEREAS, Whether it was Mano A Mano, the B.E.S.T. |
30 |
| organization, Character Counts, or her beloved School District |
