SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Gil B. Tope of Carterville
4 on January 30, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Tope was born August 7, 1961, in Du Quoin, to
6 Lee Roy Tope and Billie Marie (Madden) Tope; he married Marsha
7 Kay Lang on September 29, 1989, and they enjoyed 16 years
8 together; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
10 Catholic Church in Herrin; Mr. Tope was employed by Jack Murray
11 at Southern Illinois Wholesale for 20 years as a
12 driver/salesman and for 5 years worked for Paul Koerner at
13 Korener Distributing as a warehouse supervisor; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mr. Tope was a simple man with a "Freebyrd"
15 spirit; he enjoyed sitting around a campfire with good friends,
16 family, and a cold Miller Lite beer; he and his best friend,
17 his wife Marsha, loved being together fishing, being among
18 wildlife, walking in the woods with nature, and taking long
19 motorcycle rides on his bike, "Freebyrd"; Mr. Tope loved good
20 music and playing the guitar; he also loved his late dog,
21 Jasper, and his new four-legged friend, Skynyrd; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Mr. Tope was preceded in death by his father; his
23 father-in-law, Glen Lang; and a very special uncle, Bill Tope;
24 and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Gil Tope has been deeply felt by
26 many, especially his wife; his stepson, Travis Clark; his very
27 loving and caring daughter, Krystal Tope; his mother; his
28 mother-in-law, Patricia Atkins; his older brothers and older
29 sister, Terry and wife, Joyce, Brenda Brown, David and wife,
30 Gayla, and Alan and wife, Debbie; his wonderful grandchildren,

1 Dale Tindill, Makayla Tope, and Tylar Glen Glasco; his many
2 nieces and nephews, especially Emily Tope; his many
3 great-nieces and nephews; and his many great-great nieces and
4 nephews; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Gil Tope, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family,
8 friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
11 sympathy.
